Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) in Turkey
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to address excess abdominal skin, tissue laxity, and muscle separation. It is particularly suitable for individuals who are unable to achieve a firm, flat abdomen despite diet and exercise — most commonly after pregnancy or significant weight loss.
The goal of abdominoplasty is not simply skin removal, but restoration of abdominal contour and structural support.
About the Surgeon
Abdominoplasty at Anka is performed by Assoc. Prof. Anı Çinpolat, MD, an EBOPRAS-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon based in Istanbul, Turkey.
With advanced reconstructive training and experience in complex surgical procedures, her approach emphasizes anatomical precision, balanced contouring, and long-term stability. Each surgical plan is individually tailored following detailed evaluation of skin quality, muscle separation, and overall body proportions.
Who Is a Suitable Candidate?
Ideal candidates for tummy tuck surgery include:
• Women with abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti) after pregnancy
• Patients with excess skin following significant weight loss
• Individuals with abdominal skin laxity and stretch marks
For patients with significant excess fat, weight optimization is recommended before surgery to achieve safer and more stable results.
How Is the Surgery Performed?
Abdominoplasty is performed under general anesthesia.
An incision is made along the lower abdominal fold, typically extending between the hip bones. A second incision is created around the navel.
During surgery:
• Excess skin and fat are removed
• Abdominal fascia is tightened to reinforce weakened muscles
• The upper abdominal skin is repositioned downward
• The navel is reshaped and repositioned to a natural location
The result is a firmer, flatter, and more proportionate abdominal contour.
Hospital Stay & Recovery
Temporary drains are placed to prevent fluid accumulation and are usually removed within 1–2 days.
Most patients stay in the hospital for 1–2 nights.
During recovery:
• A compression garment is recommended for approximately 6 weeks
• Patients may walk slightly flexed forward during the early postoperative period
• Light daily activities can usually be resumed within 10–14 days
Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for approximately six weeks.
Scars appear pink and slightly raised in the first months and gradually soften and fade over time.
Long-Term Results and Considerations
Abdominoplasty provides long-lasting results when body weight remains stable.
For patients planning future pregnancies, surgery is generally recommended after completion of childbearing, as pregnancy may affect abdominal contour.
Performing a tummy tuck at the time of delivery is not recommended.
