Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Breast Reduction) in Turkey
Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Breast Reduction)
Gynecomastia refers to the enlargement of male breast tissue, which may create a feminine chest appearance. It can result from hormonal imbalance, certain medications, liver conditions, alcohol use, obesity, or may be present since adolescence without a clearly identifiable cause.
When an underlying medical condition is suspected, appropriate evaluation and treatment are carried out before considering surgical correction.
The goal of gynecomastia surgery is to restore a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest contour while maintaining natural proportions.
About the Surgeon
Gynecomastia surgery at Anka is performed by Assoc. Prof. Anı Çinpolat, MD, an EBOPRAS-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon based in Istanbul, Turkey.
With advanced reconstructive training and experience in complex microsurgical procedures, her approach is precise, evidence-based, and individually planned. Surgical correction is tailored to the patient’s anatomy, skin quality, and degree of glandular enlargement.
Surgical Techniques
The procedure may be performed under general anesthesia or, in selected cases, under sedation.
Depending on the type and severity of gynecomastia, surgery may involve:
• Liposuction alone
• Excision of glandular tissue alone
• A combination of both techniques
When liposuction is sufficient, small incisions of approximately 5 mm are made at the sides of the chest.
If glandular tissue removal is required, incisions are typically placed along the edge of the areola. Because these incisions follow the natural color transition of the areola, scars are usually discreet and minimally visible.
In more advanced cases with significant skin excess, additional skin-tightening techniques may be necessary.
Recovery Process
After surgery, patients are advised to wear a compression garment for approximately 4–6 weeks to support healing and contour stabilization.
Most patients can return to non-strenuous daily activities within a few days.
Heavy exercise and intense upper-body training should be avoided for about six weeks.
