Breast Augmentation in Turkey
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation surgery may be considered by women who naturally have small breasts or who have experienced volume loss due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, or aging.
The goal of breast augmentation is not exaggeration, but proportion — achieving a balanced, harmonious result that complements the patient’s natural body structure.
At Anka Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery, breast augmentation procedures are planned individually, following detailed anatomical evaluation and discussion of expectations.
About the Surgeon
Breast augmentation surgery is performed by Assoc. Prof. Anı Çinpolat, MD, an EBOPRAS-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon based in Istanbul, Turkey.
With advanced microsurgical experience and participation in Turkey’s first face, arm, and uterus transplantations, her approach is structured, evidence-based, and safety-focused. Surgical planning prioritizes natural appearance, anatomical balance, and long-term stability rather than exaggerated volume.
Breast Augmentation with Silicone Implants
Silicone implants remain the most reliable and long-lasting method for increasing breast volume.
Implants are available in various sizes and shapes, including round and anatomical (teardrop-shaped) designs. During consultation, implant selection is made collaboratively based on body proportions, tissue characteristics, and patient preferences.
Implants may be placed:
• Subglandular (over the muscle) in patients with adequate tissue coverage
• Submuscular (under the muscle) in patients requiring additional soft-tissue support for a more natural contour
Incisions are typically made in the inframammary fold or around the areola, depending on anatomy and surgical planning.
Breast Augmentation with Fat Grafting
In selected patients seeking modest volume enhancement, fat grafting may be an alternative.
Fat is harvested from suitable donor areas, commonly the abdomen, processed carefully, and injected into the breast tissue. Because the patient’s own tissue is used, there is no foreign-body reaction.
However, some of the transferred fat may be reabsorbed over time. For this reason, fat grafting usually provides a moderate increase in volume rather than dramatic enlargement.
Anesthesia and Recovery
Surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia.
Temporary drains may be placed to reduce fluid accumulation and are usually removed within a few days.
Most patients return to non-strenuous daily activities within approximately one week.
A supportive surgical bra is recommended for about six weeks. Intense physical activity should be avoided during early recovery.
Risks and Long-Term Considerations
As with any implant-based procedure, the body forms a thin capsule around the implant.
In rare cases, this capsule may thicken and lead to capsular contracture. Advanced cases may require corrective surgery.
Implant rupture is uncommon but may require implant replacement if it occurs.
Very rarely, breast implant–associated ALCL (Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma) has been reported in association with textured implants. With early detection and appropriate treatment, outcomes are generally favorable.
All potential risks are discussed in detail during consultation.
