Thread Lift (Non-Surgical Face Lifting)

Thread Lift

(Non-Surgical Face Lifting)

Thread lifting is a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedure designed to provide subtle lifting and skin support through the placement of medical-grade threads beneath the skin.

The treatment aims to reposition mildly sagging tissues and improve contour in selected areas of the face.

About the Surgeons

Assoc. Prof. Gamze Bektaş, MD and Assoc. Prof. Anı Çinpolat, MD are EBOPRAS-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeons based in Istanbul, Turkey. Both hold a master’s degree in stem cell and tissue engineering.

How the Procedure Is Performed

Thread lift is performed under local anesthesia in an office setting.

• Small entry points are created, typically hidden within the hair-bearing scalp

• Specialized threads are advanced beneath the skin

• The threads are positioned to provide controlled lifting and tissue support

Because entry points are concealed within the scalp, visible facial scarring is not expected.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate?

Thread lifting may be considered in patients who:

• Have mild and localized skin laxity

• Show early signs of sagging

• Prefer a non-surgical option

• Do not require a full surgical facelift

It is not a replacement for surgical facelift in cases of advanced tissue laxity.

Mechanism of Action

Thread lifting works through two mechanisms:

  1. Immediate mechanical support and mild lifting
  2. Gradual collagen stimulation around the threads

Over time, this collagen response may contribute to improved skin firmness and texture.

Recovery and Expectations

• The procedure is typically well tolerated

• Mild swelling or tenderness may occur temporarily

• Downtime is relatively short

Results are subtle and natural when performed in appropriately selected patients.

Important Considerations

Thread lift provides moderate improvement in selected cases.

Careful patient evaluation and realistic expectations are essential to achieve balanced and satisfactory outcomes.

Surgical facelift remains the gold standard for advanced facial laxity.
