Exosome Therapy

Exosome Therapy

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that function as biological signaling molecules. They carry growth factors, proteins, peptides, and genetic material that support intercellular communication and tissue regeneration.

In aesthetic and reconstructive medicine, exosome-based therapies are used as supportive regenerative treatments aimed at improving tissue quality rather than creating artificial volume.

At Anka, exosome therapy is offered as an adjunctive regenerative approach for selected cases involving skin quality improvement, scar management, and hair loss.

About the Surgeons

Exosome and regenerative treatments at Anka are performed by Assoc. Prof. Gamze Bektaş, MD and Assoc. Prof. Anı Çinpolat, MD — both EBOPRAS-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeons based in Istanbul, Turkey.

As board-certified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeons, both hold a master’s degree in stem cell and tissue engineering, which supports their evidence-based approach to regenerative therapies.

Their treatment philosophy prioritizes scientific indication, tissue quality improvement, and patient-specific planning rather than temporary or volume-based aesthetic solutions.

Scientific Perspective

Exosomes act as mediators of cellular communication. Their biological role includes:

• Supporting collagen and elastin synthesis
• Modulating inflammation
• Enhancing tissue repair processes
• Promoting cellular regeneration

They do not replace surgical procedures when structural correction is required, but may support tissue quality and healing in appropriate indications.

Exosome Therapy for Skin

Exosome formulations developed for dermatologic use may:

• Support collagen production
• Improve skin elasticity and texture
• Enhance brightness and vitality
• Contribute to reduction of fine lines

Unlike dermal fillers, exosome therapy does not aim to create volume.
Its primary goal is to improve the biological quality of the skin.

For enhanced delivery, exosomes may be combined with:

• Microneedling (Dermapen)
• Laser treatments
• Mesotherapy techniques

In reconstructive cases, exosomes may also be used postoperatively to support healing and optimize scar maturation.

Exosome Therapy for Hair

Exosome formulations designed for scalp application may:

• Support hair follicle activity
• Improve scalp microcirculation
• Contribute to hair shaft thickness
• Reduce progression of hair loss in selected cases

They may be used as an adjunct or alternative to PRP and mesotherapy in patients with androgenetic or stress-related hair loss.

Important Considerations

Exosome therapy typically requires multiple sessions.

Treatment protocols are individualized based on:

• Indication
• Tissue condition
• Patient expectations

As regenerative therapies continue to evolve, clinical application is guided by current evidence and patient-specific evaluation.
