Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler treatments are biocompatible aesthetic procedures used to reduce wrinkles, restore volume in areas of the face affected by aging, and correct hollow or sunken appearances. Although various types of fillers are available today, the most commonly used and safest options are hyaluronic acid–based fillers.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body and, once injected, can provide results lasting approximately 12 to 24 months, depending on the area treated and the individual. Different formulations with varying densities and properties are available for different facial regions, allowing for tailored, natural, and well-balanced results.

The most commonly treated areas with dermal fillers include:
• Nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and mouth)
• Lip shaping and volume enhancement
• Under-eye hollows
• Cheekbone enhancement
• Jawline contouring
• Temple augmentation

The procedure is performed in an office setting and is usually well tolerated with the use of a topical anesthetic cream. Treatment time is short, and patients can return to their daily activities immediately after the procedure.

The longevity of dermal fillers varies depending on the product used, the treated area, and individual metabolic factors, but results generally last between 1 and 2 years.

In our clinic, we specifically prefer hyaluronic acid–based fillers. The main reason for this preference is the availability of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that can safely dissolve these fillers when necessary. This provides a significant safety advantage in cases of undesired results, overcorrection, or patient dissatisfaction. Fillers that cannot be dissolved are not preferred due to the lack of this safety option.
